With the frightening uncertainty of the French Revolution, Lavoisier left the Arsenal in 1792, resigning his government posts. After a couple of tentative addresses, he settled into this mansion on Boulevard de la Madeleine. This was his home when he was arrested and taken away to be guillotined in 1794.
